In December of 2006 my boyfriend, Marc and I opened our own photography and framing studio, Studio Graph. We have great clients and are situated in a fantastic building, the Aberdeen Cultural Centre. It is a centre filled with artists and creativity. There is an amazing little cafe right across the hall from our shop, the perfect place to grab a coffee or a bit to eat. Then what happens... cancer.
So what did we do? The only thing we can...fight it.
 
 
Diagnosis: Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma (breast cancer)
Type: Mucinous
Grade: Two (in between slow growing and aggressive cancer)
Stage: One (T1-N0-M0)
Tumor Size: 1.2 cm
Estrogen Receptors: Positive (will need hormone therapy)
HER2: Negative
 
Treatment Steps:
1. Surgery - Partial Mastectomy and Axillary Lymph Node Dissection
       Date: September 5th
      
    SURGERY RESULTS: Good
        Lymph nodes negative for cancer
        Tissue around tumor negative for cancer
        Surgery went well over all
        Bone scan and CT scan were good
 
2. Chemotherapy
        preliminary appointment - October 11
        chemo begins October 22
            - 3 doses of FEC (cyclophosphamide, epirubicin, 5-fluorouracil) given every three weeks followed by 3 doses of Docetaxel
          
 3. Radiation Therapy
           - preliminary appointment - October 9
            - radiation marking placed March 26th
            - radiation therapy will begin April 14
                    - radiation will be daily for six weeks
 
4. Hormone Therapy
            - my cancer “feeds” on estrogen so the doctors would like to put me on a drug to keep my estrogen levels very low
            - I will have to have this drug for FIVE years
